Story Synopsis:
The
Haunting of Hill House is a chilling tale that follows four
individuals as they stay in a
supposedly haunted mansion. Cut off from the outside world
by its remote location and shunned
by all who know its forbidding and sinister reputation, Hill
House has remained empty and silent
except for the daily visits of its grumbling caretaker, Mrs.
Dudley. Its isolation is broken by the
arrival of Dr. Montague, an investigator of supernatural
phenomena who has been granted a
short lease by the present owner. Their visit begins with
jovial informality, but their sensibilities
are soon jolted by strange and eerie occurrences
Audition Details:
● Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Description of Characters:
Eleanor Vance-
Late 20s to early 30s. A troubled young woman seeking to
escape her past and find a new life.
Sensitive and introspective, she becomes the focus of the
house's supernatural activities.
Theodora-
Late 20s. A bohemian and free-spirited artist with alleged
psychic abilities. She is light-hearted and open-minded,
providing a contrast to Eleanor's seriousness.
Dr. Montague-
50s to 60s. An investigator of supernatural phenomena.
Intellectual and determined, he aims to uncover the
mysteries of Hill House.
Luke Sanderson-
Late 20s to early 30s. The future heir of Hill House.
Charming and witty, he provides levity
amidst the tension but harbors his own secrets.
Mrs. Dudley-
60s. The housekeeper of Hill House. Stern and set in her
ways, she adheres strictly to her
routines and warns guests about the house's dangers.
Mrs. Montague-
50s to 60s. Dr. Montague's wife. Enthusiastic about the
supernatural, she brings a different
approach to the investigation, often clashing with others.
Arthur Parker-
40s to 50s. A friend of Mrs. Montague and headmaster of a
boys' school. Skeptical and
practical, he assists in the investigation with a
no-nonsense attitude.
Note: All roles are open to actors of any
ethnicity and gender identity. We encourage diverse
casting and welcome performers from all backgrounds..
